Tea Barista / Sales Associate Position

Position
We are seeking both part-time and full-time tea barista/sales associates for our team at the Boston Public Market to prepare high-quality tea beverages, maintain and sell our products, and create an engaging experience for our customers. We are currently hiring for all shifts (especially Mondays, Tuesdays). There may also be the possibility of some farm and kitchen work for the right candidate, and the possibility to also work in our flower and houseplant stall at Boston Public Market.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
-Preparing hot and iced tea, chai lattes, and other specialty tea beverages.
-Educating customers about our herb, spice, and tea blends.
-Maintaining a well-organized, safe, and sanitary retail and food-preparation environment for customers and coworkers.
-Adhere to any necessary Covid safety guidelines that are needed according to market or state mandates.
-Performing retail sales through our Square point-of-sale system.

Required Skills and Experience
-Previous food service and retail experience preferred
-Enthusiasm for engagement with customers
-Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a group -Ability to remain calm in a sometimes fast-paced environment -Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
-Detail oriented
-Professionalism, maturity, sincerity
-Good interpersonal and communication skills
-Ability and willingness to take initiative
-Ability to lift 50 lb and work on your feet for 6–8 hours.

You will be the face of our company and an important member of a small team, so please be energetic, attentive, enthusiastic, and responsible. The job requires careful attention to detail at all times, and each team member plays an important role in creating a welcoming and efficient atmosphere for both customers and coworkers.

Compensation
$15–19 (includes pooled tips) with the possibility for increases and other benefits after six months. Generous employee discount, and you'll get to drink a lot of tea!
